This car is definitely easy on the eyes. Vibrant red paint combines with just the right amount of brightwork and simple body lines. Simulated factory mag wheel covers and redline tires complete the setup. Your vision just glides over the exterior. Perfectly complementing that is a sophisticated black interior. If you want to keep the sun off your skin, the white convertible top also completely transforms the look of the car for a nice bonus.

While it’s easy to be mesmerized by a such an attractive machine, this one is backed by some solid performance chops. There’s a 327ci V8 providing 275-horsepower. Pairing with a Turbo-Hydramatic transmission, this car accelerates as smoothly as can be. Setting the right tone is a dual exhaust system, while power steering and power disc brakes help you maintain control.

Being a Malibu model, which was top-of-the-line in 1966, this Chevelle is understandably loaded. Among the amenities are four-way flashers, which had never before appeared on a Chevelle, a “knee-knocker” tachometer, simulated wood steering wheel, bucket seats, center console, deluxe seatbelts, AM radio with a rear-mounted antenna, and even a tissue dispenser. Still, some of the included options are rare for even a Malibu model, like a vacuum trunk release mechanism, so you’re unlikely to see one like this again.

Two years after releasing the Chevelle on the market, GM redesigned the car for 1966. Ditching the “three-box” design and moving for more of a “coke-bottle” aesthetic that was sweeping the industry, the Chevy won over many fans who still lust after this version today.
