A 17.5-foot classic barely fits inside this garage, but it fits!

Garage space can be an issue when owning long cars or pickup trucks, especially when it plays home to large toolboxes and other storage items. Speaking of lengthy cars, the 1963 Chevrolet Bel Air is a ridiculously long car that measures at a whopping 17.5-feet in length, and it sits on a 119-inch wheelbase. The ’63 Bel Air model is almost a full foot longer (11 inches) than the 1957 model.

So, how does one fit a car like this into a garage? Watch this video that shows this 1963 Bel Air parked squeezed inside a modern garage with barely any room to spare. Even more impressive is the fact that the car was backed into the garage without taking out the nice, large toolbox. The car may have been equipped with backup sensors to accomplish such a feat, but impressive, nonetheless. Watching the garage door may cause slight anxiety as it barely clears the front bumper.

The average two-car garage typically measure 18-feet in width and 20-feet in length. Other common sizes include 20x20, 20x22, and 22x22. There’s no telling how deep his garage is in the video, but it looks to be the size of a two-car garage. If the two-car garage average is 20-feet deep, that leaves 2.5-feet for the toolbox, and 17.5-feet for the car. Even at 22-feet, to fit everything in snugly and still be able to close the garage door is an impressive task.

Modern garages seem to be even less car-friendly than older homes. The description of this video says that he did park this long classic in a modern garage and with “with plenty of room to spare”. Considering how big the car is, that may be plenty of room to some, but it looks to almost touch by give or take an inch, if not millimeters.
