The 1958 C1 Corvette was a technologically tour de force for GM. Pumping out 290-horsepower, the 283ci V8 was the first mass-produced engine to produce over one horsepower for each cubic inch of displacement. To accomplish what was seen as impossible before, engineers paired a highly rigid small block with an ultra-short piston stroke and an overhead valve layout which was ahead of its time. Then there’s the Ramjet fuel injection, providing sharp throttle response for a true sports car experience. An optional 411 Positraction rear axle helps maximize performance further. Capping off the perfect setup is a 4-speed manual transmission.

Just like the white exterior, the red interior doesn’t have any signs of blemishes. From the factory this car had the radio delete, proving Joie Chitwood was primarily concerned with performance.
