If the low mileage is verifiable, this car is destined to be a museum piece, and it was purchased at an amazing price.

Otherwise ordinary cars are starting to become big sellers in the classic car market, and it's the Sunday drivers that are always the most intriguing. Take this 1977 Mercury Marquis, for example. Back in its day, the big land yacht was the perfect cruising car, but this one sold at the Winter 2019 Raleigh Classic sat parked its whole life with less than 420 miles showing on the odometer. As such, this one-owner Mercury sold for $15,250, which is a great price considering the museum-quality condition of this classic.

To back up the mileage claim, the seller is including the car's full documentation over the last 42 years including original window sticker, sales order and receipt, owner's manual and Ford owner card with stamped VIN. Even with all that, it's always a challenge to back up such a mileage claim, but there's no denying the amazing condition that this sedan is currently in. There are only a limited number of pictures available for this car's lot listing, and it's easy to see this car has been properly stored in a garage and well preserved underneath a car cover.

Looking at the car, it's no surprise that the everything is claimed to be all original including the numbers-matching engine and transmission consisting of the 197-horsepower 460 CID V8 and Ford's venerable C6 three-speed automatic. This Mercury Marquis is painted in Dove Gray with gray leather interior, and it was equipped with all of the options you'd want from a '70s luxury cruiser including the power steering, power windows, power brakes, air conditioning and AM/FM radio.
