This is where brawn and sophistication come into one.

While there are many legendary models from the golden age of American muscle cars, few command the same level of respect as the Buick Gran Sport. Originally created in 1964 to rival the mighty Pontiac GTO, the performance coupe pushed to new levels by the time this 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 Convertible rolled off the production line. Thanks to Raleigh Classic Car Auctions, you have the chance to own this car, which is one of only 232 to have ever been made.

Sure, this car is rare, but it also has only had one owner. The original Protect-O-Plate comes with it and bears the first owner’s name, which is something truly special. Adding to the uniqueness of this particular vehicle is that it’s a factory executive car, commonly known as a “Brass Hat.” The executive in question spared no expense, adding pretty much every optional imaginable.

Between those shiny chrome bumpers and underneath the bright white soft top are Sea Mist Green body panels, the very color this Buick wore on the day it was born. It pairs exceptionally well with the white door panels and upholstery, exemplifying why the GS was known as the “gentleman’s muscle car.” Just cruising with the top down feels absolutely incredible.

But you can also drop the hammer and smoke some serious rubber in this ride. A numbers-matching 455ci Ram Air V8 works with a Turbo 400 with Stage 1 pitch transmission for absolutely brutal acceleration. A 3.42 posi and a 10-bolt rear help you hook up and make the most of the factory-rated 510 lb.-ft. of torque.

Finding genuine sophistication and muscle in the same car is a tricky proposition, even if you look through the extensive selection in the Raleigh Classic Car Auctions inventory. With some extremely unique attributes as well as the low build numbers for this Buick GS Stage 1 Convertible, this car is quite the collectible to have in your garage.
