Designed by legendary automobile customizer, Dick Dean.

If you're looking for the perfect car to get people to move out of your way in the fast lane, then scare them with this Alligator Car from the 1975 cult classic film, Death Race 2000. Those blood-covered fangs alone are enough to make most people double check their rearview mirror, and this fully custom car is up for sale through Orlando Auto Museum.

The cars from this movie – including the Alligator Car – were designed by legendary automobile customizer, Dick Dean. In addition to Death Race 2000, Dean built custom cars for many other movies including the Ford Explorers from Jurassic Park and the Ecto-1 Cadillac ambulance from Ghostbusters as well as the Munster Koach and Dragula for The Munsters. There are plenty of menacing custom cars displayed throughout this movie, but the Alligator Car is the lead car as it is driven by Frankenstein (played by David Carradine).

This lead car was based off Dean's custom Shala-Vette with a few added touches to fit with the theme of the movie. Although the fiberglass-bodied car is designed to look like a Corvette, it is actually based on a Volkswagen Beetle like many other custom cars created by Dean. For an added touch of customization, this Beetle chassis has been fitted with the driveline of a Chevrolet Corvair. And to give the Alligator Car the perfect on-screen presence, this unique-looking car adds a reptilian paint job, snake eye headlights, a row of fangs and a spiked spine.
