Mecum-Bound Colin Comer Collection Has Saleens, Shelbys, And More

The Mecum auction in Kissimmee is upon us again, and every year there is a diverse assortment of cars waiting to cross the auction block. Held from January 2nd through the 12th, the auction will have something for everyone. The impressive Colin Comer collection is on the docket list to hit the auction stage this coming January, and you won't want to miss it. With all of the lots starting with "F", it looks like the whole collection will be up for bids on Friday, January 10th, 2020.

When Colin Comer was a teenager, his job was to restore cars ranging from classic competition Ferraris to pure American muscle. From here, Comer started his own restoration business operating out of a two-car garage. From what started as humble beginnings expanded into working for well-known car collectors. Not only did he restore cars down to the smallest detail, but he was trusted in assisting with builds from some of the world's top collections.

Now, Comer's collection will be up for bids next month. The collection is impressive with quite a bit of rare Fords along with a few other stunning makes and models sprinkled in. Check out the detailed list below.

1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T Super Track Pack - LOT F185

This stunning Shelby GT500 convertible in Silver Jade with a white interior is a factory engineering prototype sporting Serial number 0006. It was the only factory EFI convertible ever built, and the third 1969 Shelby GT500 convertible built. Only 244 were produced, but it is just one of 4 with this color combination and factory air conditioning. Even more, it only has 35,000 miles on the clock since it was new. Stuffed inside the engine bay is the original numbers-matching 428cui Cobra Jet V8 engine.

This 1967 Sunbeam Tiger MkII Roadster is an unrestored garage find from California. With just 33,000 miles on the clock, this roadster is still blanketed in original Carnival Red and has the original black interior. Power is shifted via a 4-speed manual transmission. According to Tiger Historian Norman Miller, this is the 14th MkII Tiger produced out of 534 units. It is powered by the original 289cui V8 engine that was rebuilt by noted race engine builder George Forge with a forged 331cui stroker crank, forged H-beam rods, and a solid lifter camshaft. The estimated auction price is listed at $150,000 - $175,000.

This 2001 Ford F150 SVT Lightning truck was owned by a collector and pampered since it came home off the showroom floor. It is powered by the 5.4-liter V8 engine capable of 380-horsepower with a 3.73 rear axle, aluminum driveshaft, and more. This highly desired pickup features the original paint and has never been driven in inclement weather. Even more, it only has 28,000 miles on the odometer. Formerly part of Mark LaMaskin's PAS Collection, this car has only accumulated 48,000 miles since it was new. It comes with the original Escort radar detector and sunroof storage bag. The car was also featured in Road & Track magazine in 2016 and in a Hagerty feature article in 2017. The estimated auction price is $35,000 - $45,000. 

1988 Saleen Mustang - LOT F193

Here we have another Saleen Mustang that appears identical to the one listed above. This example is a 1988 Saleen Ford Mustang (Saleen number 197) that is also in unrestored original condition. This is 1 out of 546 Saleen Mustangs produced in 1988 with three owners over its lifetime. This California car features the original paint with decals as well as the original interior. Even more, it still retains the original factory-installed exhaust. Powering the car is the 5.0-Liter V8 engine backed by a 5-speed manual transmission. It comes with the Escort radar detector and a Pioneer stereo. The car has been freshly serviced and sits on a fresh set of tires. The estimated auction price is between $30,000 - $40,000.

1985 Ford Mustang GT - LOT F194

This desirable 1985 Ford Mustang GT, also publicly known as the "four eye". This Mustang is an extremely well-known car in the Fox-body and MCA community, and it appears virtually as new as it was treated as a show car from Day 1. With just 3,900 miles on the clock, this car is a multiple MCA Gold Award winner (with zero point deductions) and winner of the coveted MCA Thoroughbred Award. Under the hood is the last year of the 4-valve carbureted 5.0-liter HO V8 engine and last year of the roller camshaft, and it is backed by a 5-speed manual transmission. The car features the rare "slick top" with no sunroof or T-tops and it comes with the original Gatorback tires, battery, belts and hoses. It has the original stickers, decals, tags, and factory markings throughout, and it has extensive original paperwork and documentation. MCA President Jeff Mays was the original owner of the car before it was sold to noted collector Terry McCoy. From there, it was puchased by Fox-body enthusiast Kerry Wiland before ending up in the hands of Paul Jones, member of the MCA Board of Directors. The fifth owner is Colin Comer. The estimated auction price for this beauty is $40,000 - $50,000.

This is an original and unrestored blue-chip quality 1990 Ford Bronco that had just one owner from 1990 until 2018. Under the hood is the factory 5.8-Liter V8 engine shifted via an automatic overdrive transmission. This is a very rare color combination of black over a red interior. This Bronco features factory air conditioning that has been upgraded with R134A refrigerant by Advance Auto Air, and it sits on factory-styled steel wheels wrapped with a set of fresh Goodyear Wrangler tires. 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R - LOT F196

This is a Holman & Moody Built 'Bronco Hunter' Prototype that was delivered new to the Ford Research and Engineering Department. It was immediately assigned to Holman & Moody and fitted with HMS rear fender flares, roll bar, padded steering wheel, and power steering. These items were not seen on a production Bronco until the 1971 Baja Bronco. Given a 2,400-hour Concours restoration, this orange Bronco is in immaculate condition. Powering this beast is a blueprinted and dyno-tuned 302cui V8 engine backed by a 3-speed manual transmission with period floor shift conversion. More highlights include Bronco Sport Trim package, front and rear Traction-Lok differentials, soft ride springs, Bilstein shocks, front anti-sway bar, electronic ignitin, balanced driveline, and hidden sound-deadening in critical areas. This stunning Bronco even comes with a Marti Report. The estimated auction price is between $150,000 - $200,000.
