Sadly, this FJ might be too nice to take off-roading!

There are restorations, and then there are extensive frame-off, nut-and-bolt restorations. The former will give you a really nice classic car, while the latter will give you a vehicle that looks like it was built yesterday, which is the case with this beautiful 1980 Toyota FJ40 that will be up for auction in February through GAA Classic Cars.

Every aspect of this restoration was intended to be as factory accurate as possible, and that includes repainting the FJ40 in its original tan paint job as well as the gray vinyl seats and accurate badges, stickers and decals. The listing says that every screw and bolt were removed and galvanized on this build, and that attention to detail is obvious in the pictures where you can even see that the frame and suspension components look brand new. Even the new Firestone tires have a vintage look them!

Under the hood, this FJ40 is still powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six, which is paired to a four-speed manual gearbox with a two-speed transfer case with locking front hubs. The entire powertrain has been completely rebuilt, so this FJ is ready for any adventure. Due to the impressive overall quality, this Toyota's off-roading days are likely over, but it sure would be great for vintage car cruise-ins.
